SMBs Step into the Cloud of Opportunities

5 Areas of Exploration

Cloud Services, SMBs, Small Business, Cloud Applications

The possibilities of the cloud are immense and span virtually all segments of the marketplace. Yet, when all of the advertisements and commercials about the cloud started appearing five or six years ago, the majority of small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) probably thought they were intended for their larger counterparts. That is no longer the case today. Eight-five percent of SMBs believe cloud solutions can help them scale and grow their businesses faster. However, only 37 percent report they rely on a solution from the cloud.

With nearly two-thirds of SMBs still searching for their first cloud solution and many of those that are using cloud services merely scraping the surface of cloud possibilities (the majority are using just one cloud service such as email), the opportunities for growth are huge. Interestingly, cost isn’t the biggest driver for SMB adoption; rather, it is flexibility around mobility and remote work. Along similar lines, collaboration and communications show up at the top of the list for SMB growth leaders.

In a recent blog post for Davinci Virtual, “Stepping into the Cloud: 5 Areas to Get SMBs Started Today,” I examine five categories of cloud solutions that SMBs can start using today. Each of these present SMBs with opportunities to drive tangible business outcomes—from improved productivity, to new revenue opportunities, to reduced costs:

  1. Business productivity
  2. Infrastructure
  3. Web and e-commerce
  4. Enterprise applications
  5. Prospect-customer interactions

Check out the entire post for ideas on how you can step into the cloud and begin realizing its opportunities today.
